Andrew G. Toulas is a Partner with Harwood Lloyd’s Insurance Litigation Department. Mr. Toulas joined Harwood Lloyd in 2007. He specializes in the defense of litigants in civil cases on behalf of insurance carriers trying numerous cases to verdict. He also handles cases involving issues of fraud, insurance coverage, mass tort, tort claims and personal injury negligence. In 2005, Mr. Toulas was certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. He was recertified in 2010, 2015 and again in 2020.

Mr. Toulas received his B.A. as a double major in Government and English from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut in 1990. He received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1993. He was the Managing Editor of the Seton Hall Journal of Sport Law. In addition to his role in publishing the Journal, Mr. Toulas organized the Annual Sports Law Symposium.

While at Seton Hall, Mr. Toulas interned with sports agent Craig E. Fenech, Esq., of Sparta Pro Rep., Inc., handling contracts of professional athletes and media clientele.

Following law school, Mr. Toulas began his legal career at O’Toole & Couch where he defended litigants for a decade. In 2004, he joined the firm of Purcell, Ries, Shannon, Mulcahy and O’Neill as an associate in the General Litigation Department.

Mr. Toulas was selected by the Super Lawyers® Star Search New Jersey Board on Attorney Certification-Civil Law in 2009.

Mr.. Toulas was selected by the Supreme Court of New Jersey for membership and service on the District Ethics Committee (IIB South Bergen County) for a four-year term from 2012 until 2016.  Mr. Toulas had investigative and hearing responsibilities  over the attorney disciplinary system in New Jersey ensuring that our state’s attorneys maintain the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.

In April of 2015, Mr. Toulas was elected Trustee of the Bergen County Bar Association filling a vacancy resulting from the Honorable Gregg A. Padovano’s appointment as a Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Mr. Toulas is designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. Certified Civil Trial Attorneys have demonstrated levels of experience, education, knowledge and skill in civil trial practice as recognized by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work. To attain and maintain this designation involved a written examination and ongoing continuing legal education requirements in civil trial law. Less than 2% of New Jersey attorneys are certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
