Harwood Lloyd Counsel Kathleen M. Lee and Manuel D. Irizarry, Jr. Elected Partners of the Firm
At the firm’s annual meeting on January 15, 2018, Harwood Lloyd Counsel Kathleen M. Lee and Manuel D. Irizarry, Jr. were elected partners of the firm.
Ms. Lee joined Harwood Lloyd in March, 2009 and has practiced in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department since that time, specializing in commercial litigation, environmental law and estate litigation. Ms. Lee also has experience with employment, contracts and real estate matters. Ms. Lee received her B.A. in Journalism and History from the University of Connecticut in 1993. She received her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law – Newark in 1997. While attending Rutgers Law School, she served as Business Editor of the Women’s Rights Law Reporter from 1996-1997. Since 2001, Ms. Lee has served as pro bono counsel for Goals For Life, Inc., a non-profit, charitable corporation that has raised over $350,000 for worthy women’s health initiatives, primarily related to breast cancer programs. Ms. Lee assisted with the formation of Goals For Life, has been a trustee of the organization since 2002 and President since 2004. Ms. Lee is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New Jersey (1997), the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (1997), the courts of the District of Columbia (2013), and the courts of the State of New York (2013). Ms. Lee is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association.
Mr. Irizarry joined Harwood Lloyd in August, 2013 and has practiced in the firm’s Commercial Transaction Department since that time. His practice focuses on commercial, real estate and business transaction matters. He also serves as counsel to a number of financial institutions in connection with commercial, business and residential loan and mortgage transactions. Mr. Irizarry received his B.A. in Law and Society, from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 1997. He received his J.D. from the Rutgers School of Law-Newark in 2001. Mr. Irizarry served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Richard F. Plechner, Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Middlesex County for the 2001-2002 term. Prior to joining Harwood Lloyd, Mr. Irizarry was a senior associate with the law firm of Cohn Lifland Pearlman Herrmann and Knopf, LLP, Saddle Brook, New Jersey. While at Cohn Lifland, his practice focused on residential and commercial real estate transactions, including acting as review counsel for a local lending institution. A large portion of his practice also entailed representing a major regional lending institution in the handling of commercial, residential and consumer loan collections and foreclosure matters. Mr. Irizarry served as the Municipal Public Defender for the Borough of Totowa, New Jersey, from 2004-2009. He represented individuals who could not otherwise afford counsel before the Totowa Municipal Court. Mr. Irizarry is admitted to practice before the courts of New Jersey (2001) and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (2001). Mr. Irizarry is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association.
