John S. Guerin Is counsel with Harwood Lloyd in its General Litigation and Insurance Litigation Departments. He received his B.A. from Butler University in 1968. He served in the US Army (1969-1971) and in Vietnam From 1969-1971. He received his JD from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1973.
Mr. Guerin was admitted to practice before the courts in the State of New Jersey (1973) and in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (1973) and served Judicial Clerkships for the Hon. Edward J. Van Tassel and Hon. Arthur L. Troast. (1973-1974). He has been a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court since March 1982. He was appointed by the Supreme Court and served on the Bergen County District Ethics committee. Mr. Guerin has been appointed by the Assignment Judges in Passaic County and Bergen County to serve as an arbitrator in the Mandatory Automobile Arbitration Program and continues to serve as an arbitrator in Bergen County (1984 to date). He is the prosecutor for the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus (1975 to present).
Mr. Guerin has been in private practice since 1974 concentrating in the area of personal injury defense litigation for Insurance carriers, specializing in motor vehicle defense litigation.
Mr. Guerin is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association.
Mr. Guerin is designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. Certified Civil Trial Attorneys have demonstrated levels of experience, education, knowledge and skill in civil trial practice as recognized by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work. To attain and maintain this designation involved a written examination and ongoing continuing legal education requirements in civil trial law. Less than 2% of New Jersey attorneys are certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
